Aaron Baddeley has claimed his fourth US title after winning the Barbasol Championship in Alabama.
It was Baddeley’s first tour win in five years with the 35-year-old pocketing $A830,000 for his troubles.
The win grants him two full years membership and a spot on the US PGA Championship.
And he did it in style by sinking a 24-foot putt to hold out 21-year-old South Korean Si Woo Kim on the fourth extra hole.
“I think you could tell by my reaction how much it meant to me,” Baddeley said.
“It’s been a long time between drinks,” he added.
“I had some real struggles.”
Baddeley shot a closing five-under-par 66 to finish at 18-under 266 and match Kim who had a 63 and led before making a bogey on the last hole.
On the fourth playoff hole Kim launched his ball between two grandstands before chipping to five feet from the hole.
Baddeley closed it out with his long putt.
“I was just telling myself, ‘Let’s end this right here. Come on,’” Baddeley said.
“The first couple of putts (in the playoff), I didn’t quite swing it the way it needed to be swung.
“I just let it swing and it was going up over the hill and I was like, ‘Oh wait, this looks really good’.”
Countryman Stuart Appleby had a closing 69 to tie for 11th at 13 under.
