Australia's Kelsey Bennett has surged to a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the Ladies European Tour event in Belgium.
Bennett fired a three-under 68 third round on Saturday to leapfrog Spanish rookie Carolina Chacarra (74) at the top of the Hulencourt Women's Open leaderboard at 10-under.
The par-5 ninth hole at Hulencourt Golf Club provided a crucial three-shot swing, handing the Aussie a two-shot advantage as Chacarra carded a double-bogey with Bennett making birdie.
It may well come down to a final-group duel between Bennett and second-placed Chacarra, as third-placed Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar of India sit three shots further back.
Chacarra is teeing up in just her second LET event of the season and carded the course record 65 (-7) on Friday. She is the brother of Eugenio, a multiple-time winner on the DP World Tour.
Bennett is chasing a second win on the LET tour after claiming the Australian Women's Classic on home soil back in March. She is currently third on the LET Order of Merit, the highest position of anyone in the field this week.
"Yeah it was a pretty solid day," Bennett said.
"I actually didn't really know what the scoreboard was doing, so it's good to know I'm now two shots clear.
"It was pretty breezy out there. If you miss the fairway and you're in that long grass, you're not finding it.
"I was plotting my way around the course and this course sets up well for my game ..I'll just keep doing what I'm doing tomorrow."
Chacarra was proud of her round. "It was definitely harder out there," she said. "I hit it as close as I did yesterday, but the putts didn't drop.
Of the third-placed duo, Ashok (70) is a five-time winner on the LET, while Dagar (71) has won two events on the tour.
