Royal Liverpool Golf Club hosts The Open Championship for the ninth time in the past century this week.
The list of golfers to lift the Claret Jug there is incredible and includes the likes of Walter Hagen (1924), Bobby Jones (1930), Peter Thomson (1956), Tiger Woods (2006) and Rory McIlroy (2014).
The course, otherwise known as Hoylake, has undergone some subtle changes as well as welcoming a dramatic new addition – a short par-3 penultimate hole that will surely play a major role in determining this year’s champion.
Here is a photographic celebration of the host course of the 151st Open Championship.
