Many golfers, as soon as they’re over the ball and about to chip, have it in their heads to “lift” the golf ball into the air.
A mindset of “lifting” in a golf shot can mean weight remaining on the back foot, wrists cocking awkwardly and ordinary contact being made.
To take away anxiousness about getting the ball into the air, practise this drill, shared here by PGA of Australia professional Scott Cubis, in which the ball starts in the air already … on a tee!
