FIRST IMPRESSIONS: At 4cm x 4cm there is no more compact GPS in all of golf. I didn’t even need to clip it to my belt, and it easily sat on the seam of my back pocket. It was that light I forgot to unclip it from my shorts at day’s end.

HOW IT PERFORMED: This voice GPS is ready to use out of the box. There are 40,000 courses worldwide pre-loaded into this little unit and within a few minutes of turning it on, at your course for the day, you are ready to go.

This makes this diminutive GPS unit an absolute winner. There’s no mucking around. Turn it on and in the time it takes to walk from the car park to the 1st tee it is ready to tell you what you need to know as automatic course recognition kicks in.

Distances to the front, centre and back of the green are displayed on screen, or you can tap a button and your Voice GPS will reveal the yardage (and if you play around with the settings when your unit is connected to your computer, the GPS ‘caddie’ can be set up to have a male or female voice).

The unit, despite its size, has 20 hours of battery life in Golf Mode which will keep you going for at least four rounds before needing a recharge.
