Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz out-gunned Sydney’s Aron Price in the final round to win the Web.com Tour’s Panama Claro Championship.
Price held a one-stroke lead into the final round but couldn’t match the hot pace set by his playing partner Ortiz, who carded a six-under-par 64 – the equal-best round of the day at Panama Golf Club – to run away to a four-shot victory over American Jason Gore, with Price sharing third place.

Ortiz caught Price with a birdie on the 5th hole then birdied the next to take the lead for good. The Mexican’s six-birdie, no-bogey round kept Price, Gore and others at bay as he captured his first Web.com Tour tournament in style.
Former Australian Open champion Steve Allan began the last round just a shot from the lead but closed with a one-over 71 to share eighth. Incredibly, this was Allan’s best result on the Tour since 2008.
The victory pushes 22-year-old Ortiz to second place on the money-list in just the fourth event of his rookie Web.com Tour season. Price, meanwhile, jumped to 19th place and Allan to 25th, both men now inside the all-important top-25.
