A final round 70 was enough for the LPGA's most recent major champion, Sei Young Kim, to capture the inaugural Pelican Women's Championship. Here is what the World No.2 had in her bag.
WINNING SCORE: 14-under-par, 266.
EQUIPMENT CHOICE:
DRIVER: TaylorMade M5, fitted with Graphite Design Tour TP shaft.
3 WOOD: TaylorMade SIM, with Graphite Design Tour TP shaft.
5 WOOD: TaylorMade SIM, with Graphite Design Tour TP shaft.
HYBRID: Callaway Rogue (4) with 21˚ loft.
IRONS: Mizuno JPX919 Tour (4-iron) and Mizuno MP20 MMC (5-iron to pitching wedge), with Nippon N.S. Pro 950 SR shafts.
WEDGES: Titleist Vokey Design SM8 (50˚-08˚ F Grind & 56˚-08˚ M Grind), with Nippon N.S. Pro 950 SR shafts.
PUTTER: Scotty Cameron T22 Teryllium Newport Prototype.
BALL: Titleist Pro V1.
EQUIPMENT NOTES:
Kim’s second consecutive LPGA Tour victory came on the back of a solid all round performance from arguably the women’s game’s best ball striker. Kim was a perfect three for three for sand saves for the week, and as is typical of her play, found plenty of greens. A rare Tour player who carries just two speciality wedges, with a highest loft of 56˚, Kim also employs a combination set of Mizuno irons.
- In addition to leading the LPGA’s greens in regulation statistic for the year, the now 12-time winner also ranks No.1 in putts per GIR, an impressive combination. The 27-year-old opts for a Scotty Cameron blade model putter that features an insert made of Teryllium, a cooper material known for its soft feel.
-
Kim continues Titleist’s dominance of the LPGA Tour of late, her victory the 10th win from 10 events since the circuit returned from its COVID-19 hiatus.
QUOTE: “I'm very happy to win my 12th tournament, and then after win the major tournament, it means a lot to me.” – Sei Young Kim.
