Surrounded by grandstands packed with rowdy and well served fans all week, the walk up music for each player and high fives eventually turned into beer and champagne showers on Saturday during the second round.

Then pandemonium broke out on Sunday when Chase Koepka, younger brother and teammate of four-time major winner Brooks, made a hole-in-one and sent the crowd into a legitimate frenzy.

Playing partners Ian Poulter and Paul Casey looked almost as excited as Koepka as they celebrated amongst a shower of beer, wine and anything else the crowd could get their hands on. Though the cans of Saturday were gone, instead replaced with plastic cups for player safety.

A dedicated cleaning crew then made their way out to remove the debris as Casey stood in wait to hit his shot and American comedian Bert ‘The Machine’ Kreischer sent the crowd into further raptures by removing his t-shirt and swinging it around his head.

“I got up on the tee and I was just trying to hit like a trap draw 9-iron, something we’ve been working on all week. Just trying to make sure I drew it and I hit it, I knew it was good," Koepka said.

"I just started getting peppered with beer cans. I smelt like beer the whole rest of the day.” - Chase Koepka.

“I kind of thought if anything it was going to be a little deep, then I saw it kind of pitched in the upslope and take a soft bounce and thought ‘It’ll be close’.

"And then the roars just kept getting louder and louder and when it went in, I just started getting peppered with beer cans. I smelt like beer the whole rest of the day.”

The support didn't end there for Koepka, who said he briefly knew what Cam Smith felt like this week as he made his way around to a six-under 66.

"It was wild. Crazy experience, obviously to do it on a hole like that, was super special," he said. "I definitely gave the fans something to remember, the next couple of hours I was out there I was getting ovation after ovation after I walked up to every shot.

"Every tee box, it was pretty cool. That was probably what Cam Smith felt like the entire week. At least I got a glimpse of it."
