The Easter long weekend brought more than just chocolate to Adelaide. The Blitz Golf Final at North Adelaide Golf Club seeing some high quality golf from local Tour pros, legends of the game and celebrities alike.
At the conclusion of Easter Monday, it was the event’s inaugural champion and former Asia Pacific Amateur Championship winner Antonio Murdaca who walked away with the spoils, including the $10,000 winner’s cheque, but only after the sizeable crowd was treated to some entertaining play in the unique format.
For the first time since its inception in 2018 when South Australian Murdaca claimed the first Blitz trophy, the one day Final saw celebrities tee it up alongside the pros and in the running to win money after the recent change to amateur status rules.
Former Socceroo Robbie Cornthwaite even managed to advance to the second round after the six-hole opening Blitz where PGA Tour Legends player Glenn Joyner led the way with a three-under score, and a play-off was required between six players to decide the final two sports. Murdaca and Jack Buchanan surviving to advance.

However, the highlight of the first round was Australian legend Peter Senior making a hole-in-one on his last hole to advance, the triple crown winner congratulated by the tournament mascot ‘Blitzy’ on the green after making the ace.
Played over three holes, the second round of 16 included in form Tour player Jordan Zunic, but local knowledge appeared an advantage, with three South Australians among the five player nearest the pin play-off to advance to the final.
Murdaca, Max McCardle, Jason Norris and Simon Hawkes the four to advance to the one hole shootout after Joyner was eliminated.
Played over the 120 metre Oakley Stadium Hole, the Blitz winner for 2022 was decided almost immediately when Murdaca holed his putt from over 30 feet as the first away with his rivals unable to follow suit.
The 26-year-old, and one-time Masters contestant, joins Zach Murray and Matt Millar as the only multiple Blitz event winners.
