Three-time major champion Minjee Lee will be among the global stars competing in the inaugural season of the Women’s TGL (WTGL), with the five founding team rosters announced today.

Lee will represent Atlanta Drive GC alongside Charley Hull, Nataliya Guseva, Andrea Lee and fellow major champion Yuka Saso.

The 25 players across the five teams have combined for 112 LPGA Tour victories and 15 major championships, with eight ranked inside the top 15 of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

The five teams – Atlanta Drive GC, Boston Common Golf, Los Angeles Golf Club, Motor City Golf Club and New York Golf Club – will begin competition in November at the custom-built SoFi Centre in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Lee, ranked No. 13 in the world, said she was looking forward to experiencing the team environment after watching her younger brother, Min Woo, compete for The Bay Golf Club in the men’s TGL.

“I watched my brother, Min Woo, compete in TGL and saw how much he enjoyed the team environment and the atmosphere at SoFi Centre. WTGL is an exciting opportunity to bring that same energy to women’s golf, and I am looking forward to experiencing it myself.”

On representing Atlanta Drive GC, she added, "Atlanta Drive GC has built a winning culture in TGL, having already won a championship, and I am excited to represent the team in WTGL. Charley, Yuka, Nataliya and Andrea bring different strengths and personalities, and I think that combination will make us a very competitive, but also very fun and entertaining.”

The other teams feature a host of major champions, Olympians and Solheim Cup players, including Lydia Ko, Jeeno Thitikul, Brooke Henderson, Lexi Thompson, Ruoning Yin, Céline Boutier, Rose Zhang and Michelle Wie West.

Ko will represent the New York Golf Club alongside Danielle Kang, Linn Grant, Rose Zhang and Yana Wilson.

On representing New York Golf Club, she added: “Danielle and I have been close friends for a long time, and we have always enjoyed competing together in team events alongside Rose, Linn and Yana. To represent New York Golf Club together will make the inaugural season even more special.”

WTGL will feature five teams competing in a round-robin regular season before the Playoffs, with single-elimination semifinals and a best-of-three final.

Three players from each five-player roster will compete in every match, with matches expected to last approximately two hours.

The competition has been designed around a fast-paced format featuring mic’d-up access, strategic use of the Hammer, shot-clock pressure and real-time performance data and analytics.

“WTGL will combine teams of world-class LPGA Tour stars with the energy of fans inside SoFi Centre to create a thrilling new experience for women’s golf,” said Rufus Hack, president, golf at TMRW Sports.

“The five teams will go head-to-head throughout November and December, creating a consistent spotlight for women’s team golf and giving fans a new way to see the players’ personalities, competitive instincts and decision-making as teammates. With the rosters now set, the teams’ identities and rivalries can begin to take shape.”
