The 2022/23 Blitz Golf League wrapped up in sensational fashion at North Adelaide Golf Course earlier this month.
Attracting a record crowd of 3,000 spectators, Blitz’s Creator, Simon Zybek, was overjoyed with the support from the Adelaide community for the Series Final.
“Friday was an evening of thrilling entertainment for what was the first-ever professional twilight golf event in Australia,” says Simon.
Blitz was jam-packed with live entertainment, food trucks and pop-up bars on multiple holes including their featured stadium hole. The Stadium Hole was buzzing, completely surrounded by the fans and there was non-stop golfing action as well as maximum engagement between players and fans – something unseen at traditional golf events.
Headlined by Wade Ormsby, and with celebrity participants such as Port Adelaide AFL players Zak Butters and Paul Seedsman, the BGL Series Final also featured a host of talented touring professionals such as Matt Millar, Jason Norris, Haydn Barron, Justin Warren and Daniel Gale.
Millar secured an unprecedented fifth Blitz Golf title as well as the lion’s share of the $40,000 purse in a thrilling final including Lachlan Barker, as well as Jason Norris and Karis Davidson, who were appearing in their second straight Final.
The Blitz Golf League featured six events in five states and is the world’s shortest golf tournament featuring three short rounds with shotgun starts over 10 holes – six holes in round one, three in round two and then a one hole final featuring 4 players.
“We cannot wait to bring it back even bigger and better for 2023/2024”, says founder Simon Zybek.
Plans are currently underway for the 23/24 BGL National Series; and the finalists are set to be invited to participate in the events within a new lucrative International Series.
