Australian David Micheluzzi has thrown his hat in the ring for a first DP World Tour win with an eight-under 62 at the Made In Himmerland giving him an outside chance to claim victory.
Sitting five back of leader Nacho Elvira from Spain, who recorded a 66 for a 13-under total, Micheluzzi, who was bogey free during the third round, has his work cut out for him on Sunday in Denmark. However, birdies have been plentiful all week.
Starting Saturday at even par, the Victorian opened his round with a birdie at the 1st and really got going at the par-5 5th with an eagle three. Adding another birdie at the 8th, Micheluzzi turned in four-under and immediately added two more birdies on the back nine.
Birdieing the 10th and 11th, the 26-year-old added two more with consecutive birdies at 13 and 14 to share sixth after his equal low round of the day.
Elvira gave the chasing pack hope with a double bogey six at the 18th hole after finding the water from the tee of the par-4.
The Spaniard’s nearest pursuer is Robert MacIntyre, who sites one back after a third round 66, with fellow Scot Richie Ramsay a shot further adrift on 11-under, while Daan Huizing and Marc Warren share fourth at nine-under.
