Four weeks after shooting a final round 63 only to get pipped at the post by Aaron Baddeley in a play-off, Si Woo Kim can now call himself a PGA Tour winner.
The 21-year-old Korean closed the Wyndham Championship with a three under 67 for a five-shot victory over England’s Luke Donald. Kim finished at 21 under 259 total at Sedgefield Country Club, equalling the tournament’s 72-hole scoring record set in 2008 by Swede Carl Pettersson.
Kim matched Pettersson’s mark by holing a 14-footer for birdie putt on the 72nd hole. The 72-hole record followed his course record setting 10 under 60 in the second round. His record score gave him the lead for the rest of the tournament.

“The second day I made 60, that's memorable moment and that helps me to winning this tournament this week,” Kim said.
Kim added he “aggressively played because (I) already made the top 125” on the points list, and that he “felt confidence — (I don’t) have any fear attacking the pin.”
With the victory, Kim became the youngest winner on the PGA Tour this season, and the second-youngest in tournament history; Seve Ballesteros was 20 when he won at Greensboro in 1978. Kim also became the eighth South Korean player to win on the PGA Tour.
Donald, who started the final round five shots behind Kim, was hoping to have his own breakthrough moment in Greensboro but he couldn’t catch the young tearaway. Having reached the World No.1 ranking in 2011, Donald has slipped to No.90 and has not won a tournament anywhere in the world since the Dunlop Phoenix in in Japan in November 2013.
“I played pretty solidly today,” Donald said. “I didn't quite get it in the fairway quite enough to be able to attack enough pins and really put some pressure own Si.

“He looked like he was very much in control of his game and he was going to be a hard man to catch. Lot of positives from this week and good time heading into the playoffs to find some form.”
Kim’s victory elevated him nearly 30 spots to No.15 in the FedEx Cup standings, with the first of the play-off tournaments starting next week at The Barclays.
Geoff Ogilvy was the best of the Australian again this week. The Victorian overcame a sluggish start to finish T22 after weekend rounds of 68-66. Greg Chalmers finished at nine under and T33.
