Victorian Lucas Herbert stormed home with a final round 63 on Sunday to finish equal third at the European Tour event in Sicily, picking up one of the best results of his season.
Joakim Lagergren of Sweden won his first European Tour title with a playoff victory over Mike Lorenzo-Vera, with the pair finishing their fourth round at 16 under par, one shot ahead of Herbert.
Lagergren birdied the first extra hole at Verdura Golf Club after he and overnight leader Lorenzo-Vera couldn't be split.
"I've been waiting for this moment my whole career," the 26-year-old Lagergren said.
"I'm so relieved and I'm so happy at the moment, I can't describe it in words. I've just been fighting so hard to get to here, it's just awesome.
"When you're just missing out a few times you really want to get that first win ... This is a big step for me."
Herbert's third place, shared with England's Andy Sullivan, is one of the 22-year-old's best results of 2018, following an outright third place at the World Super 6 event in Perth in February.
