Another week and another Aussie major champion will be taking to social media for a live game of golf with up and coming players.
Like Adam Scott, who has played ‘Nine holes with a mate’ twice during the coronavirus-enforced layoff from tournament golf live on Instagram and even offered to clean the carts at Caloundra Golf Club according to the PGA of Australia’s website, Perth’s Hannah Green has reinforced her reputation as one of the bright lights of this country’s elite golfers.
Last year’s KPMG Women’s PGA champion has been regularly taking to the fairways at her home club, Mount Lawley Golf Club, with junior girls. Giving the young players the experience of a lifetime alongside one of the best players in the world, and surely the chance to pepper her with plenty of questions.
And this Friday at 2pm Perth time, Green and her partner and fellow professional Jarryd Felton will be taking to Gosnells Golf Club with promising amateurs Maddison Hinson-Tolchard and Josiah Gilbert as part of a charity shootout challenge that will be shown live on the club’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Green and Hinson-Tolchard will take on Felton and Gilbert, who both work in the Pro Shop at Gosnells over nine holes raising money for Challenge and a charity chosen by the Wright family, who lost their son, a member and close friend of Maddy, to cancer a number of years ago.
Scott McLean, the club’s pro, initiated the match and has already secured a purse of $1,000 to be donated to charity.
Members and guests are encouraged to attend and watch the action, with a gold coin donation encouraged, while the live stream on social media will allow others around the world to watch what is sure to be some high quality golf from all four players.
Green’s participation in the event will come as no surprise to anyone who has followed the 23-year-old’s career, her willingness to speak with, encourage and take to the course with junior golfers perhaps as impressive an attribute as her playing abilities.
The match will also give insight into the state of the reigning Greg Norman medallist’s game as she prepares to return to action on the LPGA Tour, where she added another victory to her major win in 2019 when the premier circuit in women’s golf resumes next month.
