Set to go go live on Thursday, October 2, it was announced that GOLF.com.au would be the golf industry's "one-stop shop website" and give "golfers, fans and industry professionals a new digital home to engage with the sport."

“By uniting the industry around a single platform, we’re creating new opportunities to grow the sport and support everyone who plays, works, or enjoys golf in Australia,” Kirkman said.

In another press releaseGolf Australia announced that its technology partner, DotGolf, would be taking over management of the website. DotGolf is jointly owned by Golf New Zealand and The R&A.

McIlroy confirmed to headline the 2025 and 2026 Australian Open

Five-time major champion, and career grand slam winner, Rory McIlroy will headline the men’s Australian Open for the next two years, including when it returns to The Royal Melbourne Golf Club on the Melbourne Sandbelt in 2025.

While the likes of pga.org.au, golf.org.au and wpga.org.au will become effectively redundant, it is understood that nothing will change on the digital platorm of Golf NSW, the peak body for golf in NSW which remains staunchly independent from Golf Australia's centralised, "top down" organisational model.

Golf Australia CEO James Sutherland promised visitors to the GOLF.com.au site a "new handicap experience" while developers were "laying the foundations for more features and innovations to attract, engage and grow the golf community into the future.”

"From long-time club members to those just picking up a club for the first time, we’ve designed this new digital experience for all golfers and fans,” Sutherland said.

“We know today’s golfers expect convenience, connection and a great experience, on and off the course."
