John Daly is back in the winner’s circle for the first time since 2004 after claiming the Insperity Invitational on the PGA Tour Champions.
The ‘Wild Thing’, who is now 51 years old, stumbled his way home to snatch a one-stroke victory over compatriots Tommy Armour III and Kenny Perry after bogeying his final three holes.
“It’s awesome,” Daly said after being showered in champagne on the 18th green. “It wasn’t the greatest of finishes … A win’s a win, man. Pretty cool.
“I just kind of hung in there and did the best I could. It wasn’t pretty in the end, but I got it done. That’s all that matters.”

The American joined the PGA Tour Champions last year and was tipped to tear it apart with his length off the tee but has struggled for results.
“I didn’t think (the win) would come this soon,” Daly said after his 22nd start on the Champions Tour. “These guys are so good.”
Long John, dressed in red, white and blue was all class on the 18th hole, kneeling to the ground and kissing a painted Arnold Palmer umbrella logo before two putting from 60 feet to grab the win.
