Adam Scott has confirmed he and wife, Marie, are expecting their second child in August.
The 36-year-old had just signed for a first round three under 68 at the Genesis Open when he told reporters he was likely to miss the opening week of the FedEx Cup playoff series to be with his wife for the birth.
Scott told the Golf Channel his wife is due around the time the PGA Tour moves into playoff mode at the new Northern Trust Open in New York. He said he wouldn’t tee it up in the playoff opener if that was the case.
“Hopefully I can play well enough to afford the week off,” Scott said.
If the baby arrives early, Scott could be an absentee from the PGA Championship, which will be played two weeks before the due date.
The World No.7 skipped the season-opening Tournament of Champions in 2015 to ensure he was in Australia for the birth of his daughter, Bo Vera, in February.
