Titleist has consistently raised the bar with their cutting-edge technology and first-class attention to detail. The introduction of the new 2024 GT drivers and fairway metals is no different, building on their reputation of engineering excellence in all facets.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: The GT line is a fantastic-looking range – especially at address, illustrating the classic Titleist look while providing a balanced performance across the entire line. A noticeable feature was the new face graphics, a change which was incorporated through Tour player feedback and prototyping. As always, on a fitting day, this writer was like a kid at Christmas, looking forward to experiencing all of the new and improved offerings, from integrating modern cutting-edge technology and player-focused design.
The GT range poises to reinforce Titleist’s position as a leader in equipment. Combining high-performance technology with thoughtful design means these clubs are just as likely to be seen in the bags of professionals and amateurs of all abilities and swing speeds. The range’s adaptability and the ability to cater to different player profiles without compromising on core performance attributes make it an industry benchmark.
HOW IT PERFORMED: The GT drivers had an outstanding blend of consistency, speed and forgiveness.
I started with the GT2, and I was coming into the testing off the back of a small golf sabbatical, so the swing felt slightly tight to start. And for me, what stood out was the consistency and forgiveness. My miss-hits were fairly regular at the start, and even with those poorer strikes, I was happy with my ball flight. The expanded sweet spot of this model certainly helped in this department.
The GT3 was the club where I felt I had the most control. The adjustable CG track meant I was able to choose between five CG locations (H2, H1, N, T1, T2). Titleist promise more speed and greater consistency with the GT3, and although my swing speeds didn’t change massively throughout the line, the consistency of my ball flight and shape was some of the nicest I have seen in a long time. The ball was coming out all the right windows on a penetrating trajectory.
The GT4 is tailored for a player with a higher swing speed and who excels in reducing spin. Again, this is a well-balanced club with plenty of versatility. I hit the GT4 slightly lower than the others, and I could play all the shots I attempted. The main performance improvement with the GT4 is best explained by Titleist itself: “Seamless Thermoform Crown and Split Mass Construction, as Titleist engineers pushed its internal mass distribution farther apart, maintaining back-weighted stability while driving CG forward for greater spin reduction.”
The fairway metals were just as impressive as their big brother and portrayed the same qualities across the board. I was after a higher launch; I feel as if when I hit my current fairway metal – especially off tight lies – I struggle to hit it as high as I would like. The GT2 was my preferred model for this reason. The GT3, with its taller face and adjustable CG, provides a slightly more aggressive option for players who prefer a steeper attack angle.
TITLEIST SAYS: Titleist, the most played driver on the PGA TOUR for five years running, introduces three all-new GT driver models, the most advanced and best-performing drivers ever to bear the Titleist script. The GT2, GT3, and GT4 drivers are engineered to deliver total driver performance without compromise. Building on the engineering breakthroughs that created the GT driver line, the new Titleist GT2 and GT3 fairway metals offer exceptional performance through material and construction advancements. These GT fairways deliver fast speeds, higher flight, optimal spin and longer carry, providing total performance both off the tee and into the green in two unique models.
“The GT platform breaks new ground, using materials never used in clubs before to create a transformative shift in performance. With a powerful new engine inside, there is something almost unbelievable about how Titleist GT drivers optimise the distance dynamics of every drive. Speed is gained but also controlled, meaning you get the best possible distance and outcome from every swing.
“An ultra-lightweight design – born from a Proprietary Matrix Polymer – has allowed Titleist engineers to realise new material gains while maintaining our signature sound and feel. All wrapped in a clean, confident look.
“Discretionary mass freed up by the Seamless Thermoform Crown is pushed both forward and back to optimise the distance dynamics of speed, launch angle and spin to the specific player’s needs for each GT model.
“SPEED RING WITH VFT: Two technologies unite in GT’s amazingly fast face. An upgraded Speed Ring stabilises the perimeter to focus maximum speed on-centre, while the Variable Face Thickness (VFT) maintains speed across the rest of the face.”
