One of the most common questions I hear coming from club golfers is: “How do the pros hit it so far and straight?” The answer is simple.
Strength training, stretching, custom-fit equipment and hours of practice – in addition to great raw talent – mean the guys on Tour are able to blast their drives about 270 metres on average.
The longest hitters (who are usually the wildest in terms of accuracy) can pump their drives past 300 metres, while the shorter, more accurate players are happy to nudge the 260-metre mark – but will hit 11 or 12 fairways out of 14 per round. These kinds of numbers are foreign to most club golfers. But over the following pages, I will reveal some of the things professionals do to hit longer, straighter drives.
