20 CURES TO BEAT A HORROR ROUND
PROBLEM 13: MISSED SHORT PUTS
CURE: Accelerate the stroke through impact
by: the swing doctor

If you’re missing a lot of putts
from close range, it means you’re not being authoritative
enough. you’re probably decelerating on your stroke, which
results in a wishy-washy roll. Force yourself to make a followthrough
that’s about double the length of your takeaway. Don’t
get jerky, though. Make sure your backstroke is complete before
accelerating through the ball to the cup. Additionally, when you’ve
picked your line, be confident in your assessment, then just concentrate
on making a good stroke.
Read the other 19 cures for turning
a horror round into a good one, in the January 2006 issue of Golf
Australia magazine.
