Last Week's Bet
Another win … what’s happening? Having won on the European
Ryder Cup two weeks ago, I decided to consolidate last week and backed
Vijay Singh to finish in the top-4 at the 84 Lumber Classic. Has there
ever been a safer bet in world golf? Singh’s victory pushed him
two points clear at the top of the world ranking and gave us some much
needed betting money.

Week's Bet
The World Golf Championship series heads to the south of Ireland this
week for the American Express Championship at the Jack Nicklaus-designed
Mt Juliet course.
Sportsbet had new World No.1
Vijay Singh listed as the hot favourite but the Fijian was forced to
withdraw after his Florida home was damaged by Hurricane Jeanne. Given
his earnings this year, I suggest he and his family move out of the
“Hurricane State”.
Tiger Woods was installed
as the new favourite to win in Ireland. Sportsbet has the World No.2
at $5.50 while Ernie Els is at $9 and reigning US Open champion Retief
Goosen is quoted at $15 for the win.
Something in my
gut is telling me not to back Woods to win at Mt Juliet, despite the
fact he won there in 2002. With that in mind, I am willing to lay big
on Woods finishing in the top-4, especially at the juicy odds of $2.13.
