Australian Open Memories:
Jack Newton recalls…

It may have been 25 years ago, but Jack Newton recalls the “impossible” shot that ultimately won him his first Australian Open as if it were yesterday. Standing in the bunker behind Metropolitan Golf Club’s 16th green, the then 29-year-old New South Welshman faced a treacherous downhill shot on lightning quick greens. More

Golf Australia’s Greatest Australian Golf Holes:
South Australia

Royal Adelaide GC
266-metre par-4 3rd
This is the only hole at Royal Adelaide that remains unchanged from its original Dr Alister Mackenzie design. A blind drive is followed by a short approach to a green that is shaped like a “leg of mutton”. A small ridge to the left and high grassy knoll to the right frame the putting surface.

SportsbetGallery Punter
This golfing world looks toward Shinnecock Hills CC this week as the drama of the year’s second major, the US Open, unfolds.

As expected, Sportsbet has Tiger Woods at $6 and is favourite to win the US Open. If he does win it will be his first major win since the 2002 US Open. Punters have not been encouraged by his recent run of form and his price has drifted slightly. More
